WHAT DO I NEED TO DO AFTER MY PROCEDURE?
Do NOT apply any makeup on the area for 2 weeks because chemicals of any kind tend to interfere negatively with the healing process.
Do NOT wash your face! Water is a big no no for 2 weeks.
The best results are achieved by clients who diligently follow the aftercare instructions for the full 14 day period after the procedure.
Keeping the area clean is essential so please do not touch your brows and when you must, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before touching any tattooed area.
Do not let your brows get too wet or too dry! Using unscented baby wipes, softly wipe the treated area then moisturize with Aquaphor 3 times a day for the first 3 days. During the rest of the healing period continue that process in the morning and before bed. Make sure to not overdo it with the Aquaphor because you need to allow your skin to breathe in order to heal.
In addition to the above aftercare instructions, it is important to avoid the following things.
Botox, facials, steaming, sweating, water, scratching, picking, facials, and antiaging creams, peels, etc.
Your job is to keep it clean and lightly moisturized and away from water. If you must exercise, keep it light to walking so as not to sweat. Water is not good whether it’s put on the skin or coming out of the skin.
Once your brows have healed, it is recommended that you use sunblock when out in direct sun so that your brows do not discolor.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING A VACATION PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE TO ENSURE YOU FOLLOW ALL AFTERCARE PROCEDURES. YOUR FINAL RESULTS WILL DEPEND ON HOW WELL YOU FOLLOW BOTH THE BEFORE PROCEDURE PROTOCOLS AND AFTER PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS. PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE AND INFORMED. IF WE MISSED SOMETHING PLEASE LET US KNOW.
Other important things to note.
If the client is on any AHA’s such as lactic, glycolic, citric, retinoic, and tartaric acids or any OTC creams and lotions for tone correction, anti-aging, exfoliating, fading can discolor your permanent makeup so please be aware and let the client know beforehand.
If the client has the flu, cold or covid they must reschedule as we cannot perform any lip blushing until the client is in good health.
If the client is on Coumadin they must inform the artist because the amount of bleeding and response to topical epinephrine will determine the coverage of the appointment. If the client is an excessive bleeder extra appointments will be necessary for the desired outcome or the procedure will be ineffective.
If the client has cancer and is going through chemotherapy a physician’s clearance is necessary before the procedure.
If the client has had lip fillers the procedure can be done before or after the lip procedure but the procedure must be scheduled for 4 weeks after the fillers are done. Clients who have shingles on their face must wait at least 2 months before the lip blushing procedure can be performed.
If the client gets cold sores, they need to use an antiviral medication (Zovirax, Valtrex, acyclovir) 5 days prior and 5 days post lip procedure to minimize the risk of an outbreak. Treatment cannot be performed on the client with active cold sores and the client must wait 4 weeks after the outbreak before the procedure can be performed.
If a client was recently vaccinated. Clients need to let us know if they were vaccinated in the last month. If a client was vaccinated, they will need to wait a minimum of 1 month after the date of vaccination.
What Is The Process? Step 1: The Consultation
During your consultation we will discuss your makeup routine, what colors your enjoy wearing and the color you want to achieve with your Lip Blushing. We will discuss the lip symmetry and any recommendations we have for you.
Step 2: The Outline
Once we have discussed all of your options and chosen the perfect color, we’ll outline your lips. This is important and carefully drawn on to ensure perfect symmetry, as well as a shape that complements the natural highlights and contours of your face.
Step 3: The Numbing
Before we begin your procedures we will numb your lips with a topical anesthetic. The numbing part takes about 20 minutes to minimize discomfort as much as possible. We’ll most likely add numbing cream halfway through your procedure as well to make sure you are as comfortable and pain free as possible.
Step 4: The Procedure
Now that we have picked your color, lined your lips and let the numbing cream kick in, we will begin applying lip color. Lip color is applied very carefully with a sterile, medical grade applicator designed specifically for detailed cosmetic application. (All items that touch your skin are one time use only and are disposed of after the treatment.) We apply lip color to the outline first then the entire lip surface. This can take 1-2.5 hours.
Step 5: The New Lips
After your treatment is complete, we’ll reveal your new & beautiful full lip color that you will enjoy every day without worrying about your lips ever again. To ensure you have perfection, we will schedule you for a touch up after 30-60 days of your first procedure
What To Expect After Your Lip Procedure
Day 1: Your color will appear bright and saturated. Your lips will also feel slightly swollen. That is normal.
Days 2-4: Your color will begin to darken a bit but temporarily as the pigment oxidizes and flaking begins. Your lips will feel most swollen during this time, but it should reduce quickly with proper after care.
Days 5-15: Most of the swelling will be gone and your lips will begin to feel dry and flaky. It is important that you DO NOT pick at your lips and allow shedding to heal naturally. Also during this time, your lip color may appear very light but don’t worry, this is normal & only temporary as the new skin is still in the healing phase. Over the next few days your lip color will reappear until it reaches 40-50% of the initial color.
Days 28-42: It’s time for you to come back for your touch up! Your lips are fully healed at this point but we recommend that you come back in to reinforce any color that might have healed patchy or too light. And for us to make sure your lips are absolutely perfect.
*NOTE: Once fully healed, remember to always apply full spectrum sunscreen to your lips when in the sun to avoid premature fading of treatment. The sun is not your lips friend so please apply a lipstick or chapstick with spf.
*A complete Lip healing cycle takes 4-6 weeks depending on age and your body.
HOW LONG IS THE TREATMENT?
Microblading is done in two sessions. The first takes about two hours. In the first session, the brow is shaped and styled to the client’s preference, and pigment is applied.. Four to six weeks later, the client returns for the second session for a touch up.
WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO DO TOUCHUP?
Touch up is necessary because everyones skin heals differently, so retention of pigment varies. In the touch up session, the final adjustments in color and shape are made to assure the client’s satisfaction..
HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING TAKE TO HEAL?
Generally microblading can last up to 12/18 months depending on skin type and general skin care of the client. To maintain the brows an annual touch up is recommended.
IS MICROBLADING PAINFUL?
The level of discomfort is relatively minor, certainly less painful than traditional tattooing on account of the numbing cream. Some liken it to tweezing two to three hairs at the same time. Redness and slight swelling in the area is common after the procedure.
